What is Holistic Feng Shui?

HFS is a system of Feng Shui that utilises a range of the different schools of Feng Shui, and integrates the principles and knowledge of many different cultures from all over the world and their practices of optimising energy flow in any environment. This may mean that a HFS practitioner draws upon Traditional Feng Shui principles, Meditation techniques, Alternative Therapies and also any cultural knowledge that is pertinent to you specifically. The aim of HFS is to treat the immediate environment as well as the person (or people) involved in this environment, viewing everything as connected and therefore having an impact upon the whole desired outcome.

How do I avoid 'bad luck'?

Feng Shui theory and traditional cultural systems often refer to 'bad luck' and how to remove or alleviate the influence of it in your life. HFS defines this type of influence as 'low level energy' and seeks to lift this energy so it becomes 'high level energy', and therefore beneficial. Avoiding 'bad luck' is as simple as removing anything that has a low level vibrational energy from your space.

Can Holistic Feng Shui improve my Health?

Yes. Because of the holistic approach used, the techniques and suggestions are able to change the energy flow in your home or business, body and spirit. Each aspect of your life has an influence on how good or bad your health is. HFS aims to empower you with the tools to encourage the optimum energy flow possible at whatever stage you are at. It is completely up to you to choose how much change you are able to invite into your life, so that you may progress at your own pace.

I am confused about the different styles of Feng Shui, which one is right?

Each style or school of Feng Shui from the East has it's merits and it's main focus. Some focus mainly on the environment, others focus on cultural beliefs, some on meditation, some on personal/inner aspects. At present there are about 15 different schools in of Feng Shui available in the 'west', so it can be daunting to begin this study or find which one suits your situation best. (The benefit of HFS is that it draws upon a vast knowledge base and tailors the consultation process to your customised needs) It is advisable to take an open minded approach to learning about the various schools and to experiment with the principles to see if they work for you. Your observation is the best way of interpreting the effectiveness of any therapy!

Is Feng Shui a religion? And why are there so many rules and superstitions?

No. The rules and superstitions are largely from the cultural beliefs of various Eastern countries that have developed their own forms of Feng Shui based on their religious and cultural belief systems. This is a great way of making a choice regarding Feng Shui systems, as if the cultural belief practice does not resonate with you then it is probably not the school you will get the most benefit from. Other rules come from the observations of how energy moves naturally, so there may be principles to follow. As always you should use your own discretion and observe by experimenting with these principles.

Can Feng Shui make me Wealthy?

Ah! The most important question for many who are drawn to Feng Shui as a way of improving their financial well-being! Truthfully, the use of Feng Shui in your life will 'enrich' it no doubt, and everyone has their own idea of what 'wealth' means to them. There are specific strategies within the more complex forms of Feng Shui that aim to directly increase the potential for Wealth Opportunities, and there are many success stories. Sometimes just the organisation and observation entailed in using Feng Shui can pinpoint areas where expenses can be lowered or removed, and therefore influence a better financial situation. Other times the direct 'activation' of a Wealth area can lead to new opportunities for financial gain by inviting in new job opportunities or beneficial changes to career direction etc. The success of Wealth endeavours always equals the amount of dedication shown by the individual or group. This is true for ANY kind of 'wealth' we perceive.

Do you have to spend a lot of money to have 'good feng shui' in your home or business premises?

No. Often it is a case of re-organising and re-structuring the energetic flow of a place by re-configuring furniture and having a darn good clean out. This called 'de-cluttering' in much of the Feng Shui material available, and can be a very beneficial excercise. HFS would encourage anyone doing a de-cluttering exercise to undertake a traditonal therapy like a course of flower essences that will support the process of removing and releasing old, stagnant and unusable items. This is because our possessions can hold a lot of energy in memories which have a link to our emotional body and can influence our state of health. And I expect everyone has seen an expensive residence or shop that has poor energy flow or has a 'harsh' feeling. In cases like those, the amount of money spent did not ensure 'good feng shui' at all.

What happens in a consultation?

A practitioner will ask you some questions to build an idea of what your desired outcomes are for the consultation. You will be asked for a diagram of your property (a floorplan of each level) including the surrounding property boundaries, the date of construction, and information about the occupants or the purpose of business at the premises. This is all relevant to formulate the chart of your property. (the energy map of the building)

At the consultation the practitioner will do a quick interpretation of the chart and make a few suggestions for you to carry on with until the full report can be delivered in about a week or less. Then they will talk to you about other aspects that may be affecting your overall feng shui. You will be asked to talk about what you consume, in terms of your dietary intake and the kinds of things you watch, read and take part in. They may suggest some changes that you can either take on, remove or make compromises about.

During the month after your consultation you will book a 'follow-up' appointment so that any fine-tuning can be done, and you will also be able to talk about what is working well, and what you may be having difficulty with. Your practitioner will always invite you to stay in contact during and after the consultation process as your success is their success also!

How quickly will my suggested remedies take to work?

This depends upon the overall dedication to lifting the energy level up in all aspects. Some people like to do all the suggestions straight away and usually manifest results within a week or two. Others need to take a longer time frame as the suggestions may be more involved. In those cases the remedies will take longer to manifest changes.
